In 1906, the Fetzer family built this chalet in the heart of Kandersteg. Today, in the fourth and fifth generations, we still welcome you personally. In between lie over a hundred years of hospitality, countless stories shared at the bar, and the certainty of what truly makes a stay special: the feeling of being welcome. Not as a booking number, but as a guest we remember on our next visit.
We are a five-minute walk from the train station, a ten-minute walk from the gondola to Lake Oeschinen, and directly opposite the cross-country ski trail. Inside: warm chalet-style rooms, a restaurant serving authentic Swiss cuisine, and a spa with a 30°C indoor and outdoor pool. Outside: the UNESCO World Heritage Site, right on your doorstep.
And your four-legged friend? Of course, he's welcome too, free of charge.
01 - Hotel
Each of our rooms is furnished in a cozy chalet style — warm wood, soft textiles, the scent of tradition. Open the balcony door, and the Alps are right there before you: forests, rocks, and in winter, snow-covered peaks. In the evening, a film on the television, a drink, a hot bath — and outside, only the crackling of silence.
In selected rooms, you'll also find our retractable whirlpool. More on that in a moment.
General hotel information:
Check-in is always from 4 pm.
Restaurant: from 7:30 am to 11:30 pm
Kitchen: from 12:00 - 21:30.
You can cancel free of charge up to 7 days before the arrival date; after that, 100% of the accommodation costs will be charged.
We have parking spaces available for a fee; however, we cannot reserve or guarantee these spaces.
Dogs are welcome and stay free of charge.
02 - Loveroom
At the touch of a button, the whirlpool is open to the sky.
Imagine this: You press a button. The wall opens, your whirlpool extends out onto the balcony. You sink into the warm water, a glass of champagne in your hand. Mountains rise before you. The starry sky stretches above. And there's no one else there but the two of you.
Our Loveroom isn't a room. It's a memory you can take home with you. For newlyweds, silver wedding anniversaries, marriage proposals—or simply because life's too short for ordinary nights.
03 - Restaurant
Our cozy restaurant is filled with the aroma of melted cheese, fresh bread, and a glass of Fendant wine. Our cuisine focuses on what the region has to offer: fondue, the honest classic; homemade rösti; regional meats; and homemade pizzas that will surprise you.
If you prefer a more modern setting, take a seat in the light-filled dining room. And to round off the evening, head to the hotel bar: a cocktail, a good wine, conversations that only really begin around midnight.
04 - Holiday apartments
Our nine holiday apartments are located directly behind the hotel, accommodating 2 to 9 people. Enjoy your own kitchen, your own pace, your own freedom. The best of both worlds: If you wish, you can book breakfast or dinner at the hotel. And if you fancy a sauna, take advantage of our spa – by the day or for your entire stay (for a fee).
Perfect for families, groups of friends and anyone who wants to be at home — but doesn't have to cook if they don't want to.
